Organising committee

 

The "Société de Philosophie Analytique" (SOPHA) organises an international congress every three years. In 2009, the congress was held for the first time in Switzerland.

The official languages of the congress were English and French.

The SOPHA 2009 is organised by the following committee : Philipp Keller (Genève) [coordinator], Fabrice Correia (Genève), Michael Esfeld (Lausanne), Kevin Mulligan (Genève), Martine Nida-Rümelin (Fribourg), Alexandrine Schniewind (Lausanne), Gianfranco Soldati (Fribourg), Daniel Schulthess (Neuchâtel)

SOPHA 2009 is organised in close collaboration with the commitee of the SOPHA : Mélika Ouelbani (Univ. Call for Papers: Extended deadline 15th of June 2009

The Call for Papers is now open. Please go to our online submission site to submit a 120-word abstract and a one-page summary (presenting the main argument). 

Decisions on whether papers have been accepted will be made by the end of June 2009.

The registration fee includes the program, coffee breaks, light lunch and the conference dinner and gives access to all talks, including the public lectures. It has to be paid by everyone, including invited speakers and organisers. In case of payment before the 31st of June 2009, the fee is 70 CHF for PhD-students (please bring proof of immatriculation) and 120 CHF for everyone else. For payments after the 31st of June 2009, the fees are 80 CHF for PhD students and 140 CHF for all others. 

In case you do not want to come to the conference dinner, you may purchase day-passes for 20 CHF. Registration for the conference dinner will be available on-site only in case of cancellations.

For Swiss doctoral students in philosophy only attending the two CUSO seminars, separate badges will be available. 

Participants are requested to wear their badge at all times. For security reasons, these will be checked regularly. 

Accommodation

The "Cité Universitaire Genève" has confirmed that they make available 100 individual rooms, with the possibility of an additional bed, furnished, with a sink; toilets, showers and kitchens on the floor. Please make your reservations as early as possible. More information is available here:

If you prefer to stay in a hotel, please click here for a list. Hotels in Geneva are expensive and in high demand. Please make your bookings as much as possible in advance.

Thanks to an agreement with Hotels Combined Pty Ltd, participants booking one of these hotels receive a 10% discount through the "conference support program". Click here for a list with price results for the stay between 9/2/2009 to 9/5/2009.

Every hotel in Geneva and the "Cité Universitaire Genève" will offer you tickets for free public transport (they are reimbursed for the expenses by the Geneva Tourism Office). Don't be afraid to ask.
