he University of Fribourg Environmental Sciences and Humanities Institute (UniFR_ESH Institute) coordinates and promotes environmental and sustainability research and teaching at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. In research and teaching, we place particular emphasis on the ethical issues of environmental practice and the challenges of the just distribution of environmental burdens and differentiation of responsibilities.
In support of our teaching we are seeking a 50% lecturer (21 h per week).
Starting date: 1. September 2024.
Tasks and responsibilities:
Teaching 2 courses per semester (4 hours per week, partly co-teaching)
Supervision of master theses
Study advisory
Support of teaching administration (excursions, internships, theses)
Requirements:
Outstanding PhD in environmental ethics, climate ethics, animal ethics, or similar
Teaching experience and enthusiasm to support program development
Interest and ability to work in a highly collaborative fashion
Extraordinary skills in English, French and or German
Willingness and capacity to publish and acquire project funding
The university offers a two-year contract with the possibility of renewal. Depending on funding and qualifications, stabilization of the position may be considered. We offer a vibrant research environment in a team of applied ethicists all working on different interdisciplinary contexts of environmental challenges.
