Lucerne: Professor Position "Philosophie und Blockchain"

    The Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences of the University of Lucerne is seeking to fill the following professorship at the ‘Zug Institute for Blockchain Research at the University of Lucerne’ as of 1 February 2025 or by arrangement:

    Professorship for ‘Philosophy and Blockchain’ (100%, open rank)

    As the holder of this position, you will play an active role in establishing the interdisciplinary Zug Institute for Blockchain Research at the University of Lucerne. Based in the Canton of Zug, the institute is planned to consist of a total of nine professorships from five different faculties at the University of Lucerne. The newly appointed professorships and their research teams will focus on the social, political, legal and economic consequences of blockchain technology. The aim is to create an institute for blockchain research with a humanities focus that is unique worldwide in its breadth and diversity.

    As the holder of the professorship (m/f/d), you will be responsible for the subject area ‘Philosophy and Blockchain’ and deal with questions about the nature of blockchain, ethical and/or epistemological implications of blockchain and related fields. They represent the subject in a sustainable and visible way in research and teaching. A track record in other areas of philosophy and their interfaces with digitalisation is also desirable.
