3-year post-doc and 4-year PhD positions at the University of Berne

    Benjamin Matheson's SERI-funded ERC Starting Grant project on “Collective Guilt and Shame” (CoGS), hosted by the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Bern, is looking to recruit a postdoctoral fellow and PhD Student.

     

    Postdoc Position (3 years, 100%)

    The ideal candidate will have research expertise in empirically engaged philosophy of emotion and be able and willing to undertake (among other things) a literature review of empirical work on collective guilt, shame, and pride. Research expertise in the social ontology of groups would also be an advantage. Event organisation and editorial experience are also desirable. The position comes with a generous salary, travel expenses, and funds for event organisation. The position requires completion of a PhD in philosophy (or a related field) at the start of employment.

    The ideal candidate will have an interest in writing a dissertation on the topic of The Ethics of Praise and Blame. The position comes with a generous salary, travel expenses, and funds for event organisation. A master’s degree (or equivalent) in philosophy is required.
