Internships

Do your internship at Philosophie.ch!

What we do

Philosophie.ch is a diverse and motivated team that seeks to achieve a common goal through various (and sometimes a bit chaotic) means: to create a bridge between the general public and the themes, arguments, ideas, cognitive and critical potential of philosophy as it is imagined, taught, learned, studied, lived, and practiced in Switzerland.

Anyone pursuing the same goal is welcome to join us!

An internship at the philosophy portal?

If you are interested Interested simply write to us and make an internship proposal

  • We sign an internship contract that specifies the estimated number of hours and the type of tasks to be completed during the internship
  • As an intern, you have the same rights and responsibilities as everyone else, with the only difference being that the intern is not paid (however, to a certain extent, we cover additional expenses, on occasion)
  • This means that you will receive a "work log," an email address, full access to all information, and you will be mentioned as a team member. You can take charge of developing a thematic area, work on our research projects like all other team members, contribute to maintaining, developing, and ensuring the smooth operation of the platform, or even contribute to the publication of the journal Dialectica
  • As part of your internship, you will act on behalf of the portal, document your activities independently, and help, like all other team members, in gathering information. You will participate in Zoom meetings as well as in-person meetings, whether they are dedicated to a specific project or simply for team bonding, of which you are a part. You are therefore encouraged just as much as the other team members to engage in the discussion.
  • You work from home and organize your own time. Team meetings on Zoom typically take place on Friday mornings.
  • We pay an employee of the platform to accompany you in your work, assist you, document your tasks, and provide a detailed internship certificate.

An Internship as part of your training/degree?

Those studying at a pedagogical or technical university of applied sciences sometimes have the opportunity to have an internship accredited as part of their training. We are available for such projects and are happy to adapt the format, process, duration, and other details to your needs. Examples of such internships may include:

  • A project work as part of the university of education (PH) studies. For example, PH Lucerne requires "individual specializations" to obtain a teaching diploma in philosophy. These refer to projects related to philosophy. Philosophie.ch is happy to be available for such projects and is well-suited for this purpose. PH students can create philosophical projects, such as designing an online learning course, and thus earn their credits.
  • A work or project as part of computer science studies at a university of applied sciences. For example, the Bern University of Applied Sciences in Information Technology and Engineering offers the opportunity to submit proposals for project and thesis work for students. We are also available for this

Internships for secondary school students.

Some secondary schools (for example, the Cantonal School of Wettingen) offer their students the opportunity to complete a three-week internship. The objectives are to "gain an in-depth understanding of the world of work in the chosen profession in order to verify the reality of the profession by observing, assisting, and, if possible, working autonomously" and to "strengthen personal and social skills through personal experience".

We have been approached for such an internship and have gladly accepted. Indeed, such a collaboration are beneficial to both parties:

  • We gain expertise and experience in the field of secondary schools, where we aim to engage with students and inspire them for philosophy, but also gain insights and direct experiences with teaching materials and educational resources. We rejuvenate our team, test our methods and project ideas against societal realities, and benefit from social media expertise and practical testing, for example, of online learning courses
  • We offer students a relatively flexible and autonomous internship organization, individual support, flexibility and care in organizing the internship program, an overview of all of Swiss philosophy, both academic and extra-academic, and the possibility of continuing the collaboration

If you know of such internships or if you are personally interested in one, feel free to contact us!
