Article Procurement - normal
The Swiss philosophy portal Philosophie.ch relies on voluntary and unpaid contributions to its magazine section. Both the submission of contributions (by email to info@philosophie.ch or through personal profiles) and the editing and curating of thematic focus areas is unpaid - people do it to create a discussion, present their work, reflect their points of view and to learn from the discussion by others.
Article Procurement - exceptional
In exceptional cases and under well-defined circumstances, we can pay a lump-sum for articles. These circumstances are:
- when a contribution is among the winners of a previously announced competition;
- when a contribution is specifically commissioned to fill an important thematic gap or because it is likely to start a discussion, thus leading to the submission of more (unpaid) articles;
- when a contribution is specifically commissioned from an author who depends on such content production for a living.
The obtaining of each of the three conditions is conclusively established by the portal editor Philipp Blum.
Procedures
Here is how paid article procurement works:
- You receive an invitation by the portal editor Philipp Blum to submit a proposal.
- You send a short abstract to info@philosophie.ch and name your price (the base rate is 100 CHF, for very substantial articles 200 CHF).
- You receive a confirmation (technically, a "mandate") to write the article. Unless differently specified, the deadline is one month after confirmation.
- You submit the article, typically between 4000 and 8000 characters, to info@philosophie.ch, in an editable format and add your payment details to the email.
